For over 25 years, Allen Engineering Corp. (AEC) and Advanced Concrete Technologies (ACT) have collaborated to bring high-quality concrete equipment to the Northeast market. Products ranging from hand tools to riding trowels to Bridge Deck Finishers contributed to the relationship between AEC and ACT that has strengthened since the late 1980s.
ACT was founded in 1989 by Ted Alspach and Lloyd Jack in the heart of Amish country – Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Originally, the company was named “Farmer’s Supply” with the focus on concrete equipment that remains their primary emphasis. A meeting between Ted Alspach and Dewayne Allen was the beginning of what was to become a very successful business partnership. In 2001, Harold Smith joined ACT in the sales department and, as of this year, has become one of the owners, along with his son Harold Smith, Jr.
Under the Smith’s leadership, ACT has added another location in Hanover, Pennsylvania to make sure the demand is in supply. The Smiths also stay busy on the road, “We cover all of Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and lower Jersey”, Smith, Sr. says. “We stay busy and we offer everything that Allen has.” Included in the ever-growing product offering is the Allen line of paving equipment that has seen a radical increase in 2014.
AEC is proud to be affiliated with Advanced Concrete Technologies and we join them in the mutual pledge to provide the very best equipment and customer support available in the industry.
